CJAD Hero of the Month Todd Smith

Some people go through life knowing they need to be doing more. They wonder, year after year, what it would be like to pursue their passion and do what they love. Time goes by and with no changes made, dreams go unfulfilled and lives go by unlived.
Todd Smith will not be one of those people.
After spending years in the corporate world, the artist and song writer made a new-year decision that completely revamped his life. Quitting his job at Yellow Pages and taking time out, he ended up following his passion for music and eventually found his way into community work.
His days are now devoted to working with children of all ages, encouraging them through sports, dance and music. Currently an Integration Aide at Orchard Elementary School in Lasalle, he works closely with the Lester B. Pearson School board, Lasalle Warriors football team, Lasalle community radio stations and Montreal Community Cares Foundation.
He mentors through music by providing opportunities take part in talent shows and inviting students onto his community radio program to showcase their talent. The show, Smitty In The City, is broadcast on CKVL FM Radio LaSalle every Saturday from 4-7pm or can be heard at www.100-1fm.com.
In addition to all his community work, Todd also runs an entertainment company called Smitty Citty Entertainment where he organizes and hosts events.
He now teaches during the day, coaches in the evenings, promotes youth in music, hosts events each month on his personal time and also hosts two radio shows. Following his passion has meant making a difference in the lives of the children and teens that cross his path, by teaching them alternatives in life to keep them safe and off the streets.
