In 2014, the Montreal Community Cares Foundation (MCCF) will launch a female basketball program, which will complement their already well-established male basketball program (Red Rush). This female program will be called Lady Red Rush (or simply Lady Rush), and it will welcome and embrace female individuals, between the ages of 11 and 18 years old, who have a passion for basketball.  The male counterpart of Lady Rush has been around for about 8 years, and the founder/president of MCCF, Mr. Denburk Reid, stresses that having a female division has always been his dream but, in the past, the female presence of volunteers (to serve as powerful and positive role models/mentors) was not strong enough; however,  in the recent years, this has changed…Now the Red Rush family has drastically grown and includes more  phenomenal women (including experienced basketball players, mentors, educators etc.) who are ready and willing to take these young impressionable females under their wings. Furthermore, with the launch of MCCF‘s long-awaited program for teenage girls from diverse backgrounds (EmpowerUS! ) there is no better time like the present to launch Lady Rush and embark on this full-fledged journey of female empowerment! The Lady Rush venture will commence on March 1st, 2014 at the female “identification camp,” which will give the Red Rush leaders a chance to evaluate the females and inform them about what Red Rush Leadership is really about…
