Laurent Duvernay Tardif
Medical Doctor and former Professional NFL Player
Laurent Duvernay-Tardif is the first player to ever graduate from medical school while playing in the NFL. He obtained his diploma in 2018. He is currently completing his medical residency at McGill University. From 2010 to 2013, he suited up for the McGill Redmen of the Quebec University Football League and won the title of best offensive lineman in Canadian university football that last year.
He was selected in the 6th round of the 2014 National Football League (NFL) draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. He played 7 seasons for the Chiefs and won a Super Bowl with them in 2020, becoming the first Quebec-born player to win a Super Bowl. He also played 2 seasons with the New York Jets.
He retired from professional football in September 2023.
In 2020, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif received the Medal of Honor from the National Assembly of Quebec and in 2024, he received the Order of Canada.
He is the cofounder and copresident of the LDT Foundation that offers free programs to kids combining arts and sports to encourage school perseverance.
