Hello Concerned families and friends,

We need you. We are counting on you to join us at our upcoming Mtl. Kneels for Change event.

As a community, we are witnessing protests all over the world calling for justice and equality for everyone. As a community, we must come together and demonstrate our solidarity with this global call to action.

Denburk Reid and Montreal Community Cares Foundation are calling on you to stand in solidarity, along with community partners, community leaders, athletes, influencers, politicians and the media, on Wednesday, February 24th, 2021 at 8:15 pm EST on our virtual event that will speak to the injustices within our community.

Hundreds of us knelt in silence in Loyola Park six months ago. Today, enough is enough! Today, we are standing up against the ongoing injustice and speaking out about the changes we need to see. It is time for us to move past the silence! We’ve knelt, protested and pleaded; now it is time to collectively come together to respond to the Black trauma we are faced with on a daily basis.

We want to see:

  • Accountability from those who are sworn to protect us but do us harm. Our community needs the public safety services to protect our humanity and value our lives.
  • Bridges built through dialogue and educational platforms to overcome unconscious biases.
  • The creation of our own community intervention response system by putting a program in place that will be able to train and hire community security services (Community Watch).
  • Ensuring a safe community by investing in programs that will empower youth and help them on the path to a positive future.

Our youth hold the key to our cities’future. We need to protect our sons and daughters, our future leaders and change-makers!
